Globeleq names two senior executives to lead business development and global operations

LONDON, 18 September 2006 – Globeleq, the emerging markets power company, has appointed two senior executives to lead its business development and global operations organizations.

Ashish Sarkar will be Executive Vice President of Business Development, starting October 8, 2006. He will be responsible for the development, engineering and construction of Globeleq’s new power projects in Africa, the Americas and Asia beginning. John Dolan will be Executive Vice President for Global Operations, starting today. He will be responsible for the technical and commercial operation of Globeleq’s power generation and distribution businesses starting immediately. Both will report to Globeleq CEO Torbjorn Caesar.

Each will lead a group of talented and dedicated professionals who are driving Globeleq’s continued growth through the construction and operation of new, much-needed power generation capacity.”

Ashish Sarkar has 30 years of experience in the international power generation industry, having developed, built and operated power projects in Asia, Latin America and North Africa, as well as in North America and Europe. He was CEO of Covanta International in 2004 and 2005 and President of Ogden Energy Asia Pacific from 1995 to 2001. He led project development at CMS from 1992 to 1995.

John Dolan joined Globeleq in 2004 with responsibilities for operations and business development in Southern Africa. Prior to working with Globeleq he was the General Manager of the 400 megawatt (MW) Corby power station and the Production Manager for the 2000 MW Kingsnorth power station in the UK. John has had extensive financial and commercial responsibility throughout his career.
