Globeleq owns a majority interest in Energías Renovables de Mesoamérica S.A. (ERM), the owner, operator and leading developer of wind projects in Central America. ERM owns and operates PESRL (Plantas Eólicas S.R.L.), a 23 MW wind plant located in North Central Costa Rica. The plant is operated by ERM and sells electricity to Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), the government owned electricity utility company.
ERM is also developing the Cerro de Hula wind project located in Honduras. The project includes construction of 67 x 1.5MW wind turbines (100.5 MW total capacity). The wind plant will be operated by EEHSA (an ERM subsidiary) with the government owned Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (ENEE) as the offtaker under a 20 year Energy Supply Agreement.
