Globeleq promotes child literacy

To promote child literacy, AZITO O & M, in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Women and Child Protection, launched a “Reading holidays” project on 14 May. As part of this project, AZITO O & M distributed 269 books to the kindergartens in the villages of Azito and Port Bouet, during the 2016 holidays.

The objectives of this project are:

  • To educate and encourage parents to read with their children;
  • To allow parents to help their children develop good reading skills;
  • To promote reading in kindergartens

To achieve these objectives, Azito O & M distributed guides detailing methods parents can use to encourage their children to read i.e. how to create time for reading by limiting time spent watching television, on the computer or playing video games.
In the 2016-2017 school year, an evaluation will be conducted to measure the impact of this project on the education of children and to further improve the education system in kindergartens.
