Globeleq’s Azito Reaches 10 year Safety Milestone

Globeleq’s values underpin every business decision we make, and drive our behaviour in everything we do. We actively live our values, which identify safety, integrity, excellence, unity, sustainability and fulfilment. In October 2017, our Azito team in  Côte d’Ivoire became real examples of our values statement, when they achieved 10 years of continuous operation at the Abidjan based power plant without any lost time accidents.

During the 10 years, in addition to the daily maintenance and operations required at a power plant, the Azito team has carried out several major and minor inspections on the gas turbines, built the Phase 3 expansion of the Plant, fuel line and tank inspections, and many other activities which have potential for incidents without the correct procedures or safety awareness.

Mike Scholey, COO and CFO of Globeleq said: d“I would like to recognize our entire team for this exceptional performance. Operating for 10 years without any lost time accident is remarkable when you think of all of the moving parts, the size of the plant and the daily maintenance regime performed at a power plant. During this time, the team was also heavily involved in the construction of the 139 MW expansion of the Azito power plant. This is a testament to our rigorous safety processes, training programmes, and our employees commitment to put Safety first in all our activities. We continue to instill a Safety culture at all our plants and apply zero tolerance to unsafe practices.”
