The 11 MWp Aries Solar Power is 36km southwest of Kenhardt in the Northern Cape Province. It generates approximately 22 GWh annually, supplying enough clean, renewable electrical energy to power more than 6,300 average South African homes.

This is one of the first solar facilities arising from the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). The project covers over 30 hectares of Kai! Garib municipality-owned land, close to Kenhardt, a small town about 120 km from Upington.

Aries Solar Power generates electricity using 45,000 solar (PV) panels, which feed into the 22-kV Eskom distribution system.
