Dibamba Power’s 88 MW heavy fuel oil (HFO) generation plant, located in Yassa Village near Douala, supplies electricity to Cameroon’s national grid during periods of peak demand. The facility comprises eight Wärtsilä 18V38A reciprocating engines fuelled by heavy fuel oil. Electricity is sold to ENEO under a 20-year tolling agreement. The plant commenced commercial operations in 2009 and was developed as a peaking facility to supplement Cameroon’s hydro-dominated electricity system, particularly during periods of high demand and seasonal generation constraints. Globeleq is a majority owner in partnership with the Government of Cameroon, which holds the remaining share of the business.
